Dr. Ware expressly stated his own primary theme: “Jesus Christ became one of us in order that He might die for us, in order that He might save us.” He uses a lot of Scripture, drawing primarily from Hebrews 2 and Hebrews 4, in addition to Isaiah 53. His main emphasis is on Christ Himself experiencing suffering and disability so that He could be our “sympathetic high priest.” As seen through the lens of his son’s tragic paralysis at age 16, Dr. Ware recounts the many demonstrations of the Lord’s faithfulness and provision to their family, despite God choosing not to physically heal his son.
