Dr. D’Souza’s talk centers around the plight of the Dalit (“untouchable”) people of India. He tells stories about the inhumane treatment of the Dalit people and how Christ, the Light of World, is reaching them. Joseph describes some of the ministry movements directed toward women and children in India, including the movement against temple prostitution. He emphasizes that the gospel message for the Dalit people must begin with the good news that God loves each person, that they have been created in His image and that they have inherent dignity and worth. “I am a Dalit. How are you?”
